Do you have teeth that are severely damaged or causing you pain?

Whenever possible, saving your teeth is usually the ideal option. This helps to preserve the relationship between your dental bone and the roots of your teeth. In some cases, however, it may become necessary to remove a tooth that is affecting the overall health of your mouth or putting other teeth at risk.

We recognize that extractions are not a fun topic. But we also want you to know that if you do need an extraction, your procedure will be performed by skillful dentists who make your comfort a top priority. At Beacon Square Family Dentistry, that's who we are, and that's what we do. We will let you know what to expect every step of the way, and we will give you detailed after-care instructions for faster healing with a lower risk of complications.

Extractions may be performed for a number of reasons. Sometimes, a tooth may become decayed or damaged and break in such a way that we cannot repair it with a crown. In this case, the tooth will need to come out. Leaving the tooth in place puts you at risk for ongoing pain and infection. In other cases, we may need to remove a tooth because it has become abscessed to the point where a root canal is not likely to be successful. We may need to remove a tooth that is impacted (partially or completely covered by gum tissue) because this puts you at risk for decay or infection. We may also need to extract teeth if we are preparing for orthodontic treatment and need to relieve crowding or if we are planning for dentures.

If you have a tooth that is causing problems, please call Beacon Square Family Dentistry today and schedule an appointment so that we can diagnose the problem and recommend an appropriate treatment. We also treat emergency cases.
